01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Prince's Hot Chicken Shack South is a fiery gem nestled on Nolensville Pike in Nashville, offering an authentic taste of the city’s world-famous hot chicken tradition. Specializing in chicken restaurant fare with a focus on crave-worthy fried chicken takeaway, this spot is perfect for those who seek bold spice married with Southern comfort.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the hot chicken, served up in various heat levels that cater to both the heat curious and true spice aficionados. Whether you opt for wings by the hundreds for a crowd or solo sandwiches, the chicken stays crispy, juicy, and explosively flavorful. The "triple hot" and other spice levels strike a remarkable balance—fiery enough to thrill the palate, yet never losing the signature crispy crunch that defines Nashville hot chicken.

Alongside the main attraction, Prince's Hot Chicken Shack South offers delightful sides and extras that perfectly complement the fiery chicken. From cool, tangy pickles offered by the cup or pint, to sides like Sweet Heat sauce ($3.00) and Kickin' Ranch dip, every bite is layered with thoughtfulness in flavor. Don’t overlook the humble corn muffin ($2.25), a sweet and buttery respite that works as a soothing foil to the heat. For those needing a bit of greenery, catering-size veggie salads are available, making group orders both satisfying and well-rounded.

The atmosphere mirrors the spirited energy of Nashville itself—lively, bustling, and unapologetically real. It’s a popular spot, so prepare for a lively environment and possible waits during peak hours, but know that each order is prepared freshly and with care. This commitment shows in the impeccable service, with staff who not only handle food orders with professionalism but also bring a heartwarming sense of hospitality that often leaves a lasting impression.

Guests consistently praise the friendly and attentive service. Michele Williams shared how the food was so good she made a four-hour trip just to revisit, only to be delighted once more by the spicy, crispy chicken and the quintessentially sweet Southern tea. Carla Bonilla highlights the staff’s care in helping her navigate the heat levels, ensuring a perfect spicy experience without overwhelming discomfort. Additionally, Zaqeia speaks fondly of the genuine warmth shown by staff members like Brittany, whose kindness makes the dining experience memorable beyond the food itself.

While some reviewers note that the oiliness can be a bit stronger than preferred, the overwhelmingly positive feedback underscores a dish made with passion, delivering a flavorful punch with every bite. House-made sauces and sides round out the meal, ensuring that whether you are dining in or taking it to go, the essence of Nashville's legendary hot chicken remains intact and unforgettable.

For anyone eager to experience an iconic Nashville culinary treasure, Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack South offers an authentic, flavorsome journey steeped in tradition, spice, and Southern charm—a must-visit for both locals and travelers alike.

Okay Prince's!! Your food was soo good last year that we made the 4-hour drive back to Nashville just to visit you guys! Boy, am I glad the food was just as delicious as last year!! The chicken was spicy, crispy and lip-smacking good. The macaroni was creamy and the sweet tea was about as Southern sweet tea as you can get!! Oh, and let me not forget the service. Spectacular customer service and a rose since it was Valentine's Day. So, I highly recommend you give Prince's a try as well. Here are some pics of our food and the receipt so you can see what exactly we ate.

Service here was absolutely incredible! I insisted on ordering my sandwich "triple hot," and the staff was kind enough to let me try the sauce first—saving me from a spicy mistake! They definitely don’t mess around with their heat levels. We were headed back on the road, and they packed everything perfectly for travel. Even after a 2-hour drive and a quick reheat at home, the food tasted delicious and fresh. Also, do not skip the Red Velvet cake—it was so yummy! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back and actually dine in, because I’m sure it’s even better fresh off the line!

I always have the best experience when I come here. I came in for food but witnessed so much compassion and kindness from Brittany towards each person she interacted with. Myself included. It's people like her that leave a mark on your heart and will always having you coming back in hopes of seeing her again! The food at this location is 10/10. The service is even better!! If you're craving hot chicken and want great food and service, I highly highly recommend Prince's!!!

It’s a very popular place, so it can get pretty loud. You might not be able to find a seat if you come during busy hours. Since everything is cooked to order, it took a while to receive our food. We got level 3 and level 5. The level 3 had a pretty decent heat. The level 5 wasn’t as hot as I expected—it was still decent, though. Personally, it was too oily for my liking, and the oil overpowered the flavor. Compared to the level 3 whole chicken, I enjoyed the level 5 wings more. They paired well with the pickles and crinkly fries.

Great Hot Chicken! Hot means HOT. I bought the middle of the menu Hot and it was as hot as most places very hot. The chicken tasted good and the baked beans were good. The only hold back was we tried ordering greens and they were out at the beginning of lunch. They must be good if they ran out so fast.

Incredible food, and very nice staff. These are really good people who make the best Nashville Hot Chicken and make you feel right at home. The food itself is off the charts in both flavor and spice. A must-see stop if you find yourself in Nashville!

First time at Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. The line was long but very worth the wait. We had the Leg and Quarter, 3 Wings, and The Andre Chicken Sandwich. We ordered mild and it was plenty hot but not overwhelming. Our sides were the Get it Girl Greens, Mac n cheese, and beans! I don’t live in Nashville but Prince’s will be my go to for Hot Chicken in Nashville, TN.

Chicken was fresh and flavorful. I tried the medium, then decided to go up one level and got the hot. Oh lawd… it’s really good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s so HOT it felt like a one way ticket back to my maker. Definitely get mild or medium unless you’re hardcore, or have a death wish lol
